Series info and idea
Gigolos is a popular US reality television series airing on Showtime since 2011. Its current sixth season debuted on March 17, 2016. The series is produced by RelativityReal, and executive produced by Shane Walker, Richard Grieco, Alex Campbell, Brad Bishop, Jay Blumenfield, Tom Forman and Tony Marsh.
The series chronicles the operations of Cowboys4Angels, a male escort agency in Las Vegas, portraying its owner Garren James and five men who provide the services. There have been issues of controversy and legality of the explicit activities portrayed on the show, but formally all everything chronicled is legitimate. Another issue raised was that of the series being staged, and, indeed it`s clear that it`s not a straightforward reality series, with castings being held for women and couples to participate.
Ratings and renewal prospects
The current season of Gigolos premiered to 105,000 viewers, gaining over twice the audience by the third episode. The series has a 6.1/10 IMDb score, and is positioned as “an extremely rare and uncensored look“ into the work and personal lives of five men in Vegas. Striving to balance their personal relationships with the unlikely profession that they took up is far from easy, but it`s certainly a curious and provocative enough voyeuristic adventure, and it has its specific audience. Critics have mentioned that instead of the usual blurring between reality and fiction which often occurs on reality shows, Gigolos blends the world of porn and reality.
