Summary and basic info

Yukon Gold is a Canadian reality TV show that follows mining crews as they search for gold during the four-month Yukon mining season. In the U.S., National Geographic acquired the series and aired the premiere episode of season 1 on March 13, 2013. Yukon Gold season 4 returned to National Geographic on February 17, 2016. The show is exec produced by David Paperny, Cal Shumiatcher, Audrey Mehler and Beth Wichterich and hails from Paperny Entertainment.

Once a year teams of placer mining crews spend four months searching for gold in the Yukon region. Yukon Gold exposes the unforgiving landscapes, and 18-hour days of modern-day miners hoping to strike it rich. Drama unfolds as four family-run camps battle the elements and each other, risking everything in hopes of hitting gold. Some of the Yukon mining locations featured on the show include Arizona Creek, McDame Creek, Indian River, Snow Creek, Moose Creek, and Sulphur Creek.

Yukon Gold is the latest installment in the gold-mining reality genre and reviews have been mixed. While programming focused on gold mining has been a ratings success for the network, the series struggles behind in viewer numbers.
