Series` background and info
Australia`s Got Talent is a part of a hit worldwide franchise, a reality talent competition television series that`s been broadcast on the Seven Network since 2007, and was moved to the Nine Network since 2013. It is currently airing its eighth series which has premiered on February 1, 2016. The show is produced by FreMantle Australia and SYCOtv and presented by Simon Cowell, Ken Warwick, Cécile Frot-Coutaz and Jason Raff. All of the judges were replaced for the eighth series, and the judge panel is now comprised of Kelly Osbourne, Ian “Dicko” Dickson, Sophie Monk and Eddie Perfect.
Contestants compete for a cash prize of $250,000 as they show off their traditional as well as more off-beat talents. From talented dancers and singers to jelly-wrestling midgets, woodchoppers, dog acrobatics and leaf-blowers, Australia`s Got Talent has got great entertainment value.
Ratings, current series and renewal prospects
The series`s overall average is 1.339 million viewers per episode, excluding the current run. The eighth series` premiere has drawn 785,000 viewers, approximately a half of what My Kitchen Rules had drawn that same night for its debut. The second and third episodes slipped to 736,000 and 683,000 respectively. Whether or not the viewership numbers of the popular show will pick up later on in the season is difficult to predict, so we should watch the ratings dynamics closely and wait for a network announcement on either a renewal or a cancelation.
