About the show
A Disney original live action / animated comedy series, Kirby Buckets hails from Horizon Productions, Inc., with Titmouse responsible for animation. Gabe Snyder, Mike Aber and Kristofor Brown serve as executive producers. The series premiered on October 20, 2014 with 20 episodes, and the second season aired on August 19, 2015 with the episode order extended to 25.
Kirby Buckets (Jacob Bertrand) is a 13-year-old with a dream of becoming a renowned animator like his idol Mac MacCallister. Fish (Mekai Curtis) and Eli (Cade Sutton) are his best friends who join Kirby on his unpredictable adventures, as he perfects his drawing skills. Dawn (Olivia Tuck), Kirby`s vain older sister and her best friend Belinda (Tiffany Espensen) are the other two main characters. The animated parts of the series invite us right into Kirby`s wild imagination.
Ratings, reviews and chances of renewal
The series has a mere 4.8 score on IMDb, and many of the viewers express disappointment in the program due to its superficial characters, crude humor, out-of-the-comic-book adventures that are hard to relate to and overall nastiness. In 2014 Kirby Buckets was among the 5 top-ranking series on Disney XD in the following demographics: boys 2-11 (250,000/1.2 rating), boys 6-11 (217,000/1.6 rating) and boys 6-14 (280,000/1.5 rating).
