Basic info and cast

Mr. D is a Canadian sitcom television series that`s been broadcast on CBC since 2012. It is currently in its fifth season which has debuted on January 19, 2016 and is comprised of 13 episodes. Mr. D is executive produced by Michael Volpe and Gerry Dee, who is the also the creator, writer and star of the series. It is a collaborative effort by Topsai Entertainment and Gerard ADHD Entertainment.

The mishaps of a wildly underqualified Toronto school teacher Gerry Duncan (Gerry Dee) are featured on this hilarious show. Duncan partly fakes, partly improvises his way through his day and his lessons. The series is semi-autobiographical, based loosely on Gerry Dee`s real-life experience as a teacher prior to his becoming a stand-up comedian. Mr. D also stars Jonathan Torrens, Lauren Hammersley, Bette MacDonald, Naomi Snieckus and Darrin Rose.

Awards, ratings and possibility of renewal

Mr. D has garnered several awards, such as Canadian Comedy Awards, Canadian Screen Awards, an ACTRA Award and a Banff Rockie Award. There have been rumors of a sixth season right when the production of the fifth wrapped up. Whether or not these rumors will turn out to be true remains to be seen. The viewership numbers have been sliding, you can just compare the 1.23 million viewers for the series premiere to the fourth season average of 377,000 viewers per episode.
