Basic info and storyline
Alaska Monsters is an American paranormal reality TV show about The Midnight Sons, a ragtag group of bearded men, who travel around the Alaska Triangle looking for creatures that most people don’t believe exist. The show first aired in September of 2014 and was picked up for season 2, which premiered on Destination America on September 19, 2015.
Alaska Monsters follows The Midnight Sons on their hunt for such creatures as Bigfoot, saberwolf, the northern giant and otterman. Every episode starts with Little Bear (the leader), Crusty (the researcher), Face (the tech tracker) and Levi (the tech expert) sitting around a barn talking about what kind of a monster they are going to search for. Once they make that decision, they travel to one of the zones of the Alaska Triangle and meet the local who has had a reported encounter with the monster. They then trudge through the treacherous terrain of the 49th State using their drones, thermal sensors, night vision goggles and sonar equipment to catch the monster on the ‘to-do-list’ for that particular episode.
The series has had very mixed reviews, with some critics saying that “it’s so bad you can’t get yourself away from the TV.” Sticking to the very mundane, but popular monster hunt formula, The Midnight Sons have obviously gathered enough loyal followers to be renewed for a second season. However, at the moment it is still very unclear whether Alaska Monsters will return for season 3, or if the show’s producers will call it quits.
