Basic info and cast
The Mr. Peabody and Sherman Show is a new American animated TV series based on the 1960s short film segments called “Peabody’s Improbably History” that aired as part of “The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show”. Produced by DreamWorks Animation, the hand-drawn series debuted on Netflix on October 9, 2015.
Taking elements from earlier animations, as well as the film “Mr. Peabody & Sherman”, The Mr. Peabody and Sherman Show follows the world’s smartest dog and his boy as the duo that host a late night comedy show broadcast from their swanky Manhattan penthouse, in front of a live studio audience. Hosting notable guests from bygone eras, including Mozart, Napoleon and Edgar Allan Poe, as part of their variety show, Mr. Peabody and Sherman embark on new adventures using their famous WABAC machine.
Season 1 of the animated series consists of 13 half-hour episodes. Staring Chris Parnell (“Saturday Night Live”, and “30 Rock”) as the voice of Mr. Peabody, and Max Charles (“American Sniper”) reprising the role of Sherman, the series comes to Netflix under a multi-year contract with DWA, which is already producing more than 300 TV shows for the online entertainment provider. It’s still too early to tell whether The Mr. Peabody and Sherman Show will be picked up for season 2. Netflix will likely wait to see how the first few episodes do in the ratings before ultimately deciding the fate of the show.
