48 Hours Mystery is a critically acclaimed and very long-running American newsmagazine and documentary TV series. Created by Howard Stringer, the popular newsmagazine is produced by CBS News and has been airing on CBS since January 19, 1988.

Season 28 of 48 Hours Mystery (also known as “48 Hours”) premiered on CBS on September 26, 2015 and includes many veteran correspondents. The season premiere episode documented an investigation into the mysterious disappearance of Hannah Graham, a student at the University of Virginia. The fast-moving two-hour broadcast, introduced viewers to a complex web of interconnected individuals, eventually leading them to the suspect and unveiling additional crimes.

Over the years, 48 Hours has profiled people connected with high profile murder mystery cases. In 2011 the program was the first to have their material used in a death penalty trial of Jodi Arias. Her recordings with 48 Hours from 2009 concerning the murder of her former boyfriend Travis Alexander, were used in a court of law to help convict her.

With more than 20 Emmy Awards and two Peabody Awards the show has also consistently performed well with audiences drawing millions of viewers per episode throughout the years. And this season has been no exception. The ratings of the first episode of season 28 pushed the show to be the #1 non-sports broadcast on CBS. With accolades and viewership like that, we would be surprised if the network didn’t pick up 48 Hours season 29.
