From Darkness is a British psychological-drama television series starring Anne-Marie Duff. Written by Katie Baxendale and produced by Helen Ziegler, the series focuses on the life of a former Manchester police officer who is haunted by her past. The first season of the series premiered on BBC One on October 4, 2015.

Claire Church is a former police officer, who has retired to the Western Isles of Scotland, trying to go back to a simpler way of living. Together with her partner, she runs a bakery, meets with friends, and trains for a triathlon. But one day, the ghosts of her past return and pull her back into her old life, where a case that only she can solve is waiting for her in Manchester.

Series about ghost-of-the-past haunted cops can be found pretty much on every big channel, and whether this one will differ itself from the bunch or not is still a question. So far, the ratings have been mediocre, but possibly enough to warrant a second season. Although there has not been any official statement about the fate of the series, if the producers are able to pick up the drama a bit before this season ends, we may see From Darkness Series 2 sometime next year.
