About the show

Hollywood Hillbillies is a reality show that chronicles the hilarious antics of internet superstars Michael “The Angry Ginger” and his “Mema” as they swap their simple living in Georgia for the glitz and glamor of Hollywood. With a season one debut on Reelz on January 21, 2014, the show has been a mega hit for three seasons.

Michael and his grandma Mema are notorious YouTube celebrities with more than 150 million views on their online channel. In Hollywood Hillbillies, the duo is joined by aunt Dee Dee, uncle “Big” John, and the rest of the Southern family clan as they take Tinseltown by storm. For three seasons fans have been following Michael’s growing dedication to a budding showbiz career. And getting more than a few belly laughs watching his family take trips around town.

Current season, review and possible renewal

Season 3 of Hollywood Hillbillies premiered on April 11, 2015 and gave a decent boost to the Reelz channel. The privately owned network has a lineup of several successful series, including Beverly Hills Pawn — a knockoff of History Channel’s mega hit Pawn Stars. Executives have said that they prefer non-scripted shows because of smaller budgets that have the potential to strike a chord with audiences. Despite a less than average rating of 4.3 out of 10 on IMBD, the show continues to attract viewers. For the time being, the network has stayed mysteriously quiet about any possible renewal of Hollywood Hillbillies season 4.
