About the show

Blood Feuds is a new American documentary series that premiered on AHC on January 6, 2016. It is produced by Lion Television and executive produced by Allison Corn, Antony Tackaberry, Jennifer Silverman and Max Culhane.

The documentary series concentrates on the well-known rivalries that contributed to a great deal to US history, as the street fights took place for reasons of power and honor. Dramatic struggles, strong characters, brutal hostilities are portrayed throughout different historical periods. The epic story behind the hit film Gangs of New York is presented in the first of the six one-hour series. The political aspect, as well as the compelling personalities who were involved in the turf wars are depicted in the intensely emotional series.

Viewer interest and renewal possibilities

There is both an integrally intriguing adrenaline-packed quality to Blood Feuds, and an informative historical side. The stories include interviews with Feud experts and descendants of the participants, they are re-enacted in a very realistic manner, the production values are high, and overall the series makes a positive, thought-out impression. Among the interviewees are Reed Potter, Adam Warren, Bill Richardson (WVU Extension Associate Professor), Elmer Hatfield (Descendant) Gary McCoy (Descendant) and others. There is certainly a niche for a series that is both revealing as to the historical events, and emotionally attractive, so the renewal potential is there, if the viewers respond enthusiastically to the first season.
