Impastor is an American sitcom starring Michael Rosenbaum and created by the Wings writer Christopher Vane. The series follows the life of a hard-core gambler turn gay pastor in a small town of Ladner. The first season of the series premiered on TV Land on July 15, 2015, attracting an average of 2.8 million viewers to each episode.
Buddy Dobbs is a no-good gambler, slacker and now a fugitive. Forced to think of suicide by a massive gambling debt, Buddy meets a reverend who talks him out of jumping off of a bridge, only to see that reverend slip and fall down himself. After the initial shock wears out, Buddy realizes the golden opportunity he’s been presented – he can pretend to be dead, steel the reverend’s identity and hide out as long as he needs to. His new life as a gay pastor turns out not as bad as one gambling addict might imagine, as there are always teenagers to ‘confiscate’ weed from, pretty women that strive for his attention, and a countless ‘fan-base’ of good Lutherans who respect and listen to him.
Impastor is a well-written, witty and outrageous comedy. Although it may seem that it’s a ‘sit-back-relax-and-think-of-nothing’ type of a show, it actually makes the viewer contemplate issues like identity, integrity, religion and many others. With the stable fan-base and critical acclaim that the series has received, it is no wonder that TV Land has announced its plans to renew the show for season 2. Although we don’t know the exact date yet, we will definitely see Impastor Season 2 some time in 2016.

Updated March 6, 2016: Buddy Dobbs is not quite done enjoying his new life as a small-town gay pastor just yet – on Sunday, June 26th at 10:30PM ET/PT the second season of Impastor hits the screen. Impastor averaged a very decent 2.8 million viewers, which is 29% above the TV Land average in the adult 25-54 demographic. Its great writing and quality acting are sure to continue entertaining the audience. We will be sure to inform you of any scheduling changes if they occur.
UPDATED June 16, 2016: Praise the Lord! The delayed second season premiere of Impastor has finally had its release date confirmed. Instead of June 26, the series will return on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 10:30pm, following the third season premiere of Younger. The witty comedy featuring brilliant actors and lively dialogue averaged almost 30% above TV Land`s ratings in the 25-54 demo, so tune in and enjoy the popular show.
