Yonderland is British sitcom TV series that follows a housewife who discovers a secret portal to another realm in her kitchen cupboard. Written and created by Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond, season 1 of the series premiered on Sky1 on November 10, 2013.

Debbie Maddox (Martha Howe-Douglas) is a 33-year-old mom who has become increasingly bored with her suburban lifestyle. One day, she discovers an elf (voiced by Mathew Baynton) who appears from a secret portal in her kitchen cupboard and insists that she is the “Chosen One” and destined to save a magical place called Yonderland from the evil Negates (Simon Farnaby). Debbie is reluctant but agrees to meet the Elders of the magic realm, but discovers that no one actually knows what the “Chosen One” is supposed to do. Despite the set-backs, Debbie explores Yonderland and completes various quests before returning to her normal life and children.

Season 2 of Yonderland premiered on Sky1 on July 13, 2015 for another 8 episode season. The series finale aired on August 24, 2015. Reviews have been very positive for this family comedy series and fans are certainly expecting a comeback of Yonderland season 3. But will Sky1 green light the show for another season? Viewer ratings declined significantly throughout the second season, with the season finale attracting just under 0.5 million viewers. Sky1 has made no announcements regarding a possible renewal.

Even though the ratings have dipped towards the end of the second series, Sky1 has made a decision to continue with this original comedy. In order to invigorate Yonderland, the series` creators are bringing Stephen Fry into the picture. This amazing and renowned actor is sure to enliven the action and the viewership. Filming is to begin in the spring of 2016.
