Storyline and summary

Louie is a dramatic comedy series that stars stand-up comedian Louis C.K as a fictional version of himself. The critically acclaimed show features the life of a newly divorced father raising two daughters in New York City. Told as a series of largely unconnected storylines, Louie has been airing on FX for five seasons. Season five premiered on April 9, 2015, and in late August Louie was renewed for season 6.

Well known for his stand-up comedy, Louis C.K. takes on a new role as an actor portraying a character loosely based on his own life. Each episode has a stand alone plot, and storylines unfold through completely unrelated topics. A big part of the show are the stand-up comedy routines that feature original material and recorded specifically for the show. Louie also stars Pamela Adlon, who plays Louie’s playdate friend and is sometimes the link of continuity between episodes.

With widespread critical acclaim, Louie has been nominated for several Emmy Awards for best writing, acting and directing. The show also won two Emmys for Outstanding Writing for Comedy Series. Louie was one of the top ranked TV series in its first two seasons, and earned a rating of 94 out of 100, on Metacritic. In August 2015 the return for Louie season 6 was confirmed by FX, but will return after taking a long scheduled hiatus. Fans may remember that the show took a nearly two year break between season three and four. We’ll post all updates on the premiere date of Louie season 6 as more information becomes available.
