Basic info and cast
The Mindy Project is an American romantic comedy television series that follows Doctor Mindy Lahiri (Mindy Kaling). Created by Mindy Kaling herself and co-produced by Universal Television and 3 Arts Entertainment, the series first premiered on September 25, 2012 on Fox. After a three-season run, the network canceled the series due to declining ratings. In May 2015 Hulu picked up the show for a fourth season, and proceeded to renew it for season 5, which debuted on October 4, 2016.
Mindy Kaling is an ob/gyn doctor working in a small medical practice in NYC, a character based on Kaling`s mother. The dynamics among the group of doctors and co-workers are at the center of the narrative. In season 5 Mindy continues to explore life with the help of her wacky coworkers, with Danny playing a particularly significant role. The leeway and certain freedoms that the creators of the show were endowed with after the show`s move from Fox to Hulu were not really taken advantage of yet, since the producers wanted the show to retain the same atmosphere.The current season will feature, first and foremost, the love triangle between Mindy, Danny and Danny`s fiancée, as well as Mindy waking up and spending some time as a white man, a nurses` strike and some roommate tension Colette and Morgan. With an impressive cast of recurring characters and guest celebrity appearances, the series is a raging hit with critics and viewers alike, scoring 86% on Rotten Tomatoes and 7.4/10 on IMDb.
