Storyline and cast
Blue Bloods is a hit American police procedural TV drama series that portrays the Reagan family, where a number of members are employed by the New York City Police Department. Created by Robin Green and Mitchell Burgess, the series is produced by Panda Productions, Paw in Your Face Productions and CBS Television Studios. The first season of the show premiered on CBS on September 24, 2010, and season seven was launched its 22 new episodes on September 23, 2016.
Blue Bloods follows police commissioner Francis “Frank” Reagan (Tom Selleck) and his extended an Irish-American family of police officers. Reagan was a U.S. Marine Corps officer and Vietnam war vet before joining the NYPD. Season 7 of Blue Bloods starts off with Danny’s world shaken up when new evidence is brought up against him in the serial murderer Thomas Wilder’s self-defense shooting case.
Awards, viewership and chances of renewal
Much like in the previous seasons, season 7 of Blue Bloods is delivering excellent numbers – the first two episodes drew an impressive audience of 10.55 million viewers each, later sliding to 9.85 million, which is still an extremely solid number. The show is very popular, with many nominations and several awards, including a Primetime Emmy nomination under its belt, and neither the producers nor the network seem to be worried about the show’s near future. With such a devoted fan following, CBS will likely have no problem greenlighting the show for season 8. Fans will have to stay tuned to find out, if and when the network makes a formal renewal announcement.
