Basic info and storyline

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is an American action comedy TV series set in the fictional 99th Precinct of the NYC Police Department. Shot with a single camera, the series follows a team of detectives and their newly appointment captain. It is created and executive produced by Dan Goor and Michael Schur, co-exec produced with David Miner, Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Luke Del Tredici and hails from Fremulon, Dr. Goor Productions, 3 Arts Entertainment and Universal Television. Season 1 premiered on Fox in September 2013 with a whopping 6.17 million viewers tuning in. The current fourth season debuted on September 20, 2016.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine follows Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg), an immature but talented NYPD detective in Brooklyn`s fictional 99th Precinct. When Jake is introduced to his new commanding office, the serious and stern Captain Ray Holt (Andre Braugher), immediate conflict ensues. The show also stars Stephanie Beatriz, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Joe Lo Truglio, Chelsea Peretti, Dirk Blocker, and Joel McKinnon Miller. Season four started off with Jake and Holt in Florida, living under the guises of their new identities in the witness protection program, and struggling with various challenges while trying to put down Figgis.

Current season, viewership and renewal prospects

Having received critical acclaim and numerous awards, including two Golden Globe Awards, Critic’s Choice TV Awards, and two Creative Arts Emmys, the show seems to be losing its touch a bit. The reviews have not been too stellar from season 3 on, and although the ratings of the action comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine have dropped by almost a third during the third installment, the network still made a decision to give the award-winning series another chance. The current fourth season continues with very similar numbers, at least there are no major losses in the numbers. It has premiered to 2.39 million viewers, and continues to attract a similar-sized audience. The show has excellent ratings from the viewers on review aggregator websites – 92% on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.3/10 on IMDb.
