Basic info and plot

The Blacklist is an American crime drama TV series that follows the life of Raymond “Red” Reddington, who is a former US Navy officer turned high-profile criminal. One day, Red makes an offer to the FBI to surrender and give up a list of most dangerous criminals in the world. The series was created by Jon Bokenkamp and premiered in September of 2013. Season 4 of The Blacklist premiered on NBC on September 22, 2016.

When Red makes the FBI an offer they can’t refuse, the Bureau has no option but to give in to the condition that he only works with Liz Keen, a recent Quantico graduate. The list that Red is ready to provide includes politicians, mafia bosses, spies and international terrorists, and in order to catch them all Liz has to start thinking like a criminal. In the action-packed season four premiere episode Liz is captured by Alexander Kirk, but still cannot believe him when he reveals that he is her father. The shocking revelation that Liz is alive and has apparently betrayed them shakes the crew to the core, Red makes a deal to find out where Liz is, but is unable to save her.

Strong ratings and chances of renewal

The Blacklist has enjoyed impressive ratings, with the current season premiere drawing an audience of 11.66 million total viewers (6.4 million live viewers + 5.23 million DVR viewers), a total demo rating of 2.7 and a share of 5. Since the story is nowhere close to being finished, it is almost certain that the network will pick up the series for another season. Additionally, NBC has ordered a spin-off series titled The Blacklist: Redemption starring Ryan Eggold as Tom Keen and Famke Janssen as Scottie. Hopefully, we will see The Blacklist Season 5 some time in the future. Stay tuned for more recent developments.

Latest news

UPDATED November 20, 2016: Hit NBC criminal mystery series The Blacklist will come back on the air on Thursday, January 5, 2017 on 10/9c with the second part of season 4. The first eight episodes that aired prior to the holiday hiatus received as much critical acclaim as ever, but the viewership has, in fact, declined by approximately a million viewers since the most recent completed third season. The ratings are still strong, and James Spader is delivering an excellent performance. We are expecting a definitive answer to the cliffhanger question of who Liz`s father really is after the bombs dropped in the last pre-hiatus episode. Besides, Liz needs to be saved from Kirk`s men holding her hostage. A new threat is also expected to emerge for Red in the back half of the fourth season when a mole leaks out sensitive info. Additionally, fans are waiting eagerly for The Blacklist: Redemption, a spinoff series that is supposed to air during the 2016/17 season. Oh, January 5, 2017 will not be here soon enough, but let`s be strong and keep ourselves busy with other things.
