Basic info and plot

Catastrophe is a British comedy sitcom that is currently airing on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom. The series is co-produced for Channel 4 by Avalon Television and Merman studios and executive produced by Sharon Horgan, Rob Delaney, Richard Allen-Turner, Jon Thoday and Kara Baker. Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney also write and co-star in the comedy show. In the UK the first season of the series contained 6 episodes and premiered on Channel 4 on January 19, 2015. In the United States it came out exclusively on Amazon Prime Instant Video in June 2015.

The plot of the show pivots around London teacher Sharon Morris (Sharon Horgan) and Boston ad exec Rob Norris (Rob Delaney) attempting to have a proper relationship after a very brief affair that leaves Sharon pregnant. Cultures collide and hormones flare as the two attempt to deal with situations that are less than typical for a couple expecting a baby. Contemporary, romantic, yet far from pop-culture cliches of love, Catastrophe has won critical acclaim and viewer support both in the UK and the USA, where it aired exclusively on Amazon Prime.

On January 28, 2015, Catastrophe was renewed for the second six-episode season, which has premiered on the UK Channel 4 on October 27, 2015 and is currently on the air. Convincing characters, a refreshing approach to familiar issues and a mix of dry British and more straightforward American humor led to a favorable reception by both critics and viewers on both sides of the Atlantic. Although there hasn`t yet been an official statement from Channel 4, considering the apparent success of both the first and the currently airing second season it is very likely that the show will be picked up for yet another season.
