Series info and storyline

Created by Ray McKinnon, Rectify is an American television series that follows the life of Daniel Holden, a man who spent nearly 20 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit and now tries to adjust to life on the outside. Sundance Channel’s first original series, Rectify Season 4 premiered on SundanceTV on October 26, 2016.

As a teenager, Daniel Holden (played by Aden Young) was sentenced to death for the rape and murder of his girlfriend. Nineteen years later, new DNA evidence invalidates his conviction and he returns to his hometown of Paulie, Georgia. All this time, the community he used to be a member of has been divided over his conviction, as he always stated that he was innocent of the crime. When Daniel returns, he finds it difficult to adjust and find allies amongst his skeptical peers. Some, like his sister Amantha, support him and his new beginnings, while others plot to reopen the case and prove his guilt, sending Daniel back on death row. Unfortunately, there’s a chance that the latter may succeed.

Critical acclaim and cancelation

Rectify has been a very successful project for SundanceTV, receiving critical acclaim and some of the highest viewership ratings in the network`s history. With deep characters and intricate storylines, not to mention a ton of quality drama, the series draws the viewers’ attention and keeps them mesmerized throughout the seasons. It has an impressive score of 8.3/10 on IMDb, and the fourth season premiered to 0.18 million viewers, which is close to the overall average for the series. However unfortunate for the fans, the current season is bound to be the final one that should bring closure to the characters and a satisfying ending for the fans. Enjoy it while it lasts.
