History Channel officially canceled Ax Men season 10

This article has the most up-to-date info on the status of Ax Men season 10 as we continuously monitor the news to keep you in the know. Unfortunately, History Channel has officially canceled the series. There will be no season 10.

Basic information and storyline

Ax Men is a US reality television series that`s been on the air on History Channel since March 9, 2008. It`s an Original Productions show, executive produced by Dolores Gavin and Thom Beers and narrated by Thom Beers.

The series follows the trend of the “real people in danger” that`s become popular on television recently. It focuses on the logging crews working in different regions of the United States – from Louisiana and Florida to Oregon, Washington and Montana. The dangers of the logging profession are a crucial aspect of the series` appeal.

Ratings and chances of renewal

The Ax Men ratings aren`t bad at all, 1.56 million total viewers and 0.5 million in the adult 18-49 demographic, but they are somewhat surprising in view of the criticism by viewers and critics alike. The disappointing aspects of the series are almost universally agreed upon, and include the predictability, the obviously staged accidents and other scenes, the lack of safety precautions that should be in place if the loggers were indeed as experienced as they are supposed to be, along with constant swearing and the fact that broadcasting it on the History Channel contradicts the network`s concept. What is it that viewers find attractive about Ax Men? Well, there`s the eternal love for the wilderness, the pioneer spirit, the man-against-nature standoff, the smell of imminent danger. This is particularly and very understandably true for our society, where the wilderness is fas far away for most people as the moon. We believe that this appeal is what kept the show on the air, and that it may easily carry Ax Men over into the next season.

Latest news

UPDATED September 21, 2016: Unfortunately, Ax Men, the veteran series that has been on the air since 2008 and depicted the Rygaard family`s logging business, has been canceled by History after season nine. The announcement was made earlier this year on the show`s official Facebook page, and did not necessarily come as a surprise, as the show was getting repetitive according to many viewers` reviews. We are wishing good luck to the loggers as they are continuing to do what they do best, just without the media coverage.
