About the show
The Fosters is an acclaimed and award-winning American drama television series that follows the life of a lesbian couple that raises a multi-ethnic mix of biological, foster and adopted children. The series originally aired in June of 2013 and has had a successful three-season run. Receiving very favorable reviews, The Fosters season 4 premiered on June 20, 2016
Living in San Diego, California, Stef Foster and Lena Adams are in a lesbian relationship and take care of four children with very different backgrounds. Brandon is Stef’s biological son, Jesus and Mariana are their adopted twins, and Callie and Jude are the couple’s foster children who have been recently removed from an abusive home. Trying to navigate their personal and professional lives, Stef and Lena frequently face problems that those raising only biological children don’t often have. Such problems as struggling with identities, secrets of the troubled past, and non-acceptance of being fostered by lesbians constantly jeopardize the couple’s relationship and makes them question their decision as related to children.

Appealing to adults and teenagers alike, this series received generally favorable reviews and critical acclaim. Additionally, the LGBT community has praised the show for its innovative portrayal of a lesbian couple raising children. The fourth season of The Fosters, which has consistently rated as Freeform`s most popular series, has started off with excellent viewership numbers. The first two episodes of the current fourth season drew an audience of 0.976 million viewers and a 0.43 demo rating, perfectly on par with the previous season, and if the numbers hold steady for the whole season, the fifth season is almost a sure thing.
