Basic summary and storyline

Hetty Feather is a British children’s drama series that features the life of Hetty Feather who lives at the Foundling Hospital after being abandoned as a baby. An adaptation of Jacqueline Wilson’s hugely successful book by the same name, the show premiered on May 11, 2015 on the CBBC channel in the U.K.

Set in 1887, Hetty Feather tells the story of a young girl growing up in the Victorian age. Told through the eyes of the boys and girls who inhabit the Foundling Hospital, the show explores the realities of the time — the good, bad, ugly and sometimes tragic tales of human relationships and the importance of family. After being abandoned as a baby, Hetty is fostered by Peg and Gideon Smeed for sometime before being returned to the hospital. Hetty and her friends hate the strict regime of Matron Bottomly and yearn to escape her iron grip. Desperately wanting to find her birth mother, Hetty plans an escape from the hospital.
