About the show
The Jonathan Ross Show is a British chat television series on the air since September 3, 2011. It is produced by Hotsauce TV and ITV Studios, and executive produced by Lee Connolly, Deborah Cox and Addison Cresswell. The show is broadcast internationally in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Sweden. The current eleventh season premiered on September 10, 2016.
The series follows a certain format – in fact, the same format that Jonathan Ross` previous BBC One show had - there are three celebrity guests with short breaks in-between their appearances, and a musical number in the concluding part of the episode.
Ratings dynamics and chances of renewal
The series`s host Jonathan Ross signed up for this series after the conclusion of his long-running BBC One show Friday Night with Jonathan Ross (2001-2010). This means that he`s had a weekly appearance on national TV for the last fifteen years. How much longer will the ratings allow th program to continue? Well, there was a noticeable decline in viewership in 2013, but the numbers have since picked up a bit to allow the series to go on. The summer 2015 premiere of The Jonathan Ross Show was moved to an earlier spot and pulled in 2.3 million viewers, which was still below the time slot average. The series holds what seems to be a ridiculously low score of 1.8/10 on tvguide.co.uk, but it is based on almost 7500 votes, so it has to reflect some of the audience`s sentiment. Where does all of this conflicting information leave us? Despite the circulating rumors of cancelation, in June 2016 ITV has confirmed the return of The Jonathan Ross Show for a 12th series. Following the 11th series the program will take an extended hiatus to allow the host to travel to the United States in early 2017, and the show is set to return in the fall of 2017.
