Production info and plot
Teachers is an American comedy television series that premiered on TV Land on January 12, 2016. It grew on a foundation of an eponymous web series by the Katydids, a 6-member female improvisation group. The group members collectively write the scripts and star in the show as troubled elementary school teachers. The first episode was released on demand on December 15, 2015, a month befor the network premiere. The series is produced by Martel & Roberts Productions and TV Land Original Productions, and executive produced by Ian Roberts, Jay Martel and Matt Miller.
The 10 episodes of the half-hour series follow the six teachers` lives at the elementary school and outside of it. It`s not always easy to act like a proper role model for the students when your own life needs some serious fixing, and these teachers have a lot of personal issues that come to light in the most awkward and hilarious ways.
Reviews and chances of renewal
The reviews from both viewers and critics have been generally favorable for Teachers. The performance are mostly praised, but the writing quality seems a bit of a letdown for a significant number of the series` critics. The comedy series premiered to 0.85 million viewers, the second episode took a serious dip to 0.39 million, and the third bounced up to 0.95 million. With ratings dynamics like this it is hard to predict what the season average might be for this raunchy and twisted humor comedy. Will this mixed group of confused women win the hearts of a steady audience? Stay tuned and we will probably find out whether the show has been canceled or renewed soon enough.

Updated March 5, 2016: The all-female group improv group Katydids is bringing its quirky comedy Teachers back to TV Land for a second season. The renewal was announced with a projected twenty episode count. The series will continue to portray six elementary teachers who are trying to keep their lives together as they are attempting to do their job and teach the young generation how to live theirs. UPDATED November 23, 2016: Excellent news for the fans – everyone is glad to hear that TV Land`s critically acclaimed series Teachers is all set for an early 2017 return. The second season of the quirky comedy will be launched on January 17, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT. The sophomore installment is comprised of 20 new episodes, which is twice the size of season one, which definitely denotes the network`s great expectations for the show.
