About the series

Mountain Monsters is an American docu-series that follows the work of AIMS – the Appalachian Investigators of Mysterious Sightings – an organization that investigates legendary and unidentified creatures of the Appalachian Mountains region. Mountain Monsters season 4 was comprised of 13 episodes and was broadcast on Destination America between January 23, 2016 and April 16, 2016. The show is produced by American Chainsaws and executive produced by Colt Straub, Duke Straub, Jay Blumke, Ken Charles and Royal Malley.

Many of us have heard of the Wolfman, Mothman, Lizard Demon and many others. Although, most of us haven’t seen such creatures, it doesn’t mean that they don’t exist. Moreover, there are those who have encountered them and have decided to dedicate their lives to determining if such monsters are real. The six men of AIMS are a brave bunch – Trapper, Buck, Huckleberry, Willy, Jeff and William are hardcore hunters and trappers who have encountered the unexplainable and made it their life’s work to bring to light evidence of the unknown. They use traditional and modern technology to track and capture the monsters of the Appalachian Mountain region, which has been long considered to be the gateway between our dimension and other worlds.

Current season, ratings and possible renewal

For generations people have been telling of their sightings of monsters along the 1,500-mile stretch of the Appalachian Mountains. The men of Mountain Monsters try to either prove or disprove the existence of such monsters. Since the series first aired it has received mixed reviews, scoring only 4.9 out of 10 on IMDb and 7.6 out of 10 on TV.com. The fourth season aired with an average viewership of under 0.5 million viewers, with the season finale ranking as the network’s most-watched program in households as well as in P2+ and M25-54 in L+3 estimates. Understandably, Destination America decided to go forth and renew the series, with Mountain Monsters season 5 premiering in the spring of 2017. We’ll have the official premiere date as soon as it is announced.
