Storyline and cast
Wanted is an Australian drama TV series airing on Seven Network since February 9, 2016. The program is created by Rebecca Gibney and Richard Bell, executive produced by Tony Ayres, Rebecca Gibney and Julie McGauran, and produced by Matchbox Productions and R&R Productions. The series is set to contain six episodes, which air weekly.
The series stars Gibney as Lola Buckley and Geraldine Hakewell as Chelsea Babbage. The two women are standing at a bus stop one lovely morning. They`ve waited for the bus at the same stop for over a year, and have never spoken to each other before. But the chain of unexpected events throws the two polar opposites together, and they end up driving across Australia in a car full of stolen money, chased by the ever-growing number of pursuers following them.
Critical reception and renewal prospects
Wanted premiered to an audience of 1.18 million viewers, and the two subsequent episodes averaged approximately 0.9 million viewers. The series was expected to be hit and it does indeed seem to be doing very well. A reluctant Thelma and Louise-themed journey will bring the two very different women to a new understanding of themselves and each other. The series certainly has potential, with the tightly written story and great acting. The ratings have been high, and the reviews – positive, so we might expect a renewal of this road trip series on the wave of success that Wanted is enjoying.
