Series info and storyline
ALVINNN!!! and the Chipmunks as a joint French-American production, a CGI-animated TV series airing on Nickelodeon since 2015. It is created by Janice Karman, exec produced by Ross Bagdasarian, Jr., Janice Karman, Sandrine Nguyen and Boris Herzog. The show is a modern update of the classic 1980s cartoon series. The second season aired on March 5, 2016.
It is the most recent in a series of adaptations of Alvin and the Chipmunks, a story about Dave Seville, a bachelor raising 3 Chipmunks and 3 Chipettes as his own children, with all the trials and tribulations of raising human children, and then some. This is actually the first time Chipmunks and Chipettes have made a joint television appearance wince 1990. The purely modern social issues discussed in the series include school bullying and gadgets.
Ratings, reviews and renewal potential
The series has a 5.7/10 IMDb score and a 6.3/10 on TV.com, with viewers split in their opinions of the show. Many enjoy the positive messages and the good vibes emanating from the screen, but some find the very same aspects bland and repetitive and complain of the animation quality. The freshman run of ALVINNN!!! and the Chipmunks averaged approximately 2 million viewers per episode, while the second season opened to 1.75 million viewers. Overall it seems like the animated series can be enjoyed by both adults and children, and has strong potential that would be able to develop further if the series is renewed for another season. UPDATED October 13, 2016: Excellent news for the fans of the Nickelodeon’s hit CGI animated series ALVINNN!!! and the Chipmunks – the show has been renewed for two seasons at once with great confidence in its future potential. The commission of seasons 3 and 4 was announced by Bagdasarian Productions and Technicolor Animation Productions (TAP). The upcoming installments will go into production this fall in France, but the release date has not been announced yet, so stay tuned and we’ll bring you the latest news on the future of the fun adventure series.
