Series info and storyline

Schitt`s Creek is a Canadian sitcom series that is airing on CBC in Canada and Pop in the United States. It is created by a father and son team Eugene and Daniel Levy, who also star in the show, and is produced by Not A Real Company Productions.

The comedy series follows the misadventures of a filthy rich family that goes bankrupt and is forced to live a lifestyle completely foreign to them, following their involuntary relocation to a depressing small town of Schitt`s Creek. The ex-video store magnate Johnny and his ex-soap star wife Moira Rose (Eugene Levy and Catherine O`Hara), and their two adult children – hipster David (Daniel Levy) and socialite Alexis (Annie Murphy) are living in two adjacent rooms of a dilapidated motel in a town that they once bought as a joke, wondering what to do. What will they do?

Critical reviews and renewal

The critical reviews of Schitt`s Creek have initially been average, but the viewer reviews and ratings are excellent, with the series` witty humor, gradual character development, hilarious dialogue and stellar performances all appreciated by the audience. Schitt`s Creek has received two Directors Guild of America Awards and nine Canadian Screen Awards, so obviously the critics have also warmed up to the sitcom. The series was renewed for a third season prior to its March 16, 2016 second season premiere on Pop. The upcoming chapter will contain thirteen episodes.
