Series information and storyline.

Hulu`s brand new drama series The Path has premiered on March 30, 3016. The show was created by Jessica Goldberg, executive produced by Goldberg, Jason Katims and Michelle Lee, and produced by Lucid Road Productions, True Jack Productions and Universal Television. The show received a straight-to-series order for 10 one-hour episodes last year.

A fictional cult called the Meyerist Movement is portrayed in the show, which stars Aaron Paul (Eddie Lane, a recent convert to Meyerism), Michelle Monaghan (Eddie`s devoted wife Sarah, an important figure in the cult), Rockmond Dunbar (Detective Abe Gaines) and Hugh Dancy (charismatic unofficial cult leader Cal). The storyline chronicles the struggles of the Lane family with issues of faith, power and relationships and portrays the dynamics inside the sect. Gaines begins to investigate the suspicious cult and faces personal troubles of his own.

Reviews and renewal potential

A 7.7/10 on IMDb, and a 70% on Rotten Tomatoes means that the show is growing very popular with both viewers and critics. The Path demonstrates impeccable acting, an expertly constructed plot and is certainly smart and engaging. It is not absolutely perfect, with some critics noting unnecessary melodramatic byways and a premise that does not necessarily feel plausible in the beginning. However, most agree that the first season is laying a strong foundation for the potential seasons to come. Will there indeed be more of The Path in the future? The engrossing 10-episode freshman season of Hulu drama The Path has bowed out on May 25, 2016. The season finale was eventful, with multiple serious cliffhangers, a mystery unsolved, and some serious groundwork laid out for the next season. Most of the finale worked like a straightforward family drama, but in a crucial development, Eddie once again begins to have visions, which loops nicely with the pilot episode and leaves the audience wondering about their nature. Abe`s daughter recovery can be considered a miracle, Alison is allowed to come back to the compound, things are falling into place and leaves the fans pining for a continuation. The season finished with solid review aggregator scores – 70% on Metacritic, 80% on Rotten Tomatoes and 7.8/10 on IMDb. Hulu viewership numbers are unavailable to the public, but we can assume with a great degree of certainty that The Path is delivering very reasonable ratings. The show was renewed for a second chapter mid-way through the first season. The series` creator Jessica Goldberg has hinted at a possible romantic relationship for Eddie in the upcoming season, as well as a couple of new characters weaved into the narrative.
