About the series

A brand new Channel 4 sitcom, The Windsors has premiered on May 6, 2016. It was created and written by Bert Tyler-Moore and George Jeffrie and executive produced by Robert Wulff-Cochrane and Camilla Campbell. The show contains six episodes.

The sitcom is an affectionate spoof on the much-loved British royal family. The range of the issues explored is great – from the mundane ones that almost every viewer can relate to the ones familiar only to those of highly noble descent, such as keeping the line of succession intact. The talented ensemble cast includes Harry Enfeld (Prince Charles), Morgana Robinson (Pippa Middleton) along with Haydn Gwynne, Hugh Skinner, Louise Ford, Matthew Cottle, Elle White, Celeste Dring, Tim Wallers and Katy Wix.

Critical reviews, viewership and prospects of renewal

While the critics are unanimous in admitting that show`s not the next huge comedy hit, most viewers are enjoying this satirical soapy look at the treasured British royal family. The Windsors has premiered to an impressive 1.9 million viewers, trailing well behind Gogglebox – but, well, most everything is trailing behind Gogglebox (3.5 million), and not that far behind The Island with Bear Grylls (2.35 million). At this point all signs are pointing to a bright future for the new sitcom, and we may very well expect a renewal for a second series. Stay tuned and we will be sure to keep you informed.
