Basic info and storyline

Prey is a British crime thriller television series that premiered on April 28, 2014 on ITV. The second series was released on December 9, 2015. The show is created by Chris Lunt, written by Chris Ellis, developed by Gallowgate Productions and produced by Red Production Company and ITV Studios. The two series contains three episodes each.

Detective Constable Marcus Farrow (John Simm) is the first series` protagonist , whose personal and professional interests become very tightly intertwined in the most tragic way possible. The second series stars Prison Officer David Murdoch (Philip Glenister), whose life is seriously complicated as he gets drawn into an elaborate prison escape plan against his will.

Viewer reception and renewal predictions

According to critics and viewers alike, the series has a great, complex script, excellent production value and strong performances. The first series was a big hit on ITV with 7.35 million viewers for the series finale, including ITV HD and TV+1. John Simms won a “Best Male Performance” award from the Royal Television North West Award for his role in Prey`s first series. The second series didn`t do nearly as well ratings-wise, but still gathered 3.5 million viewers in front of their TVs for the series premiere and garnered lots of social media acclaim. Will ITV consider the numbers high enough to qualify the series for a third run?
