Production info and storyline

Historical drama television series Versailles is the result of collaboration between British, French and Canadian producers. It is created by Simon Mirren and David Wolstencroft, written by Miren, Wolstencroft, Andrew Bampfield and Sasha Hails and produced by Capa Drama, Incendo Productions and Zodiak Media Group. The series premiered in France and Canada in November 2015, and the UK premiere took place on BBC Two on June 1, 2016. Versailles will make its US debut on Ovation on October 1, 2016 on Ovation.

The series chronicles the construction of the Versailles Palace during Louis XIV`s reign in France. The lavish decadence of his court circa 1667 is the backdrop to the 28-year-old king`s decision to build the greatest palace in the world. Intrigue and drama build up as Louis XIV orders his court to move to Versaiiles, and the nobility resists. Glory and brutal politics, secrets and lies – all against the grandeur of Baroque France. George Blagden, Alexander Vlahos, Elisa Lasowski, Stuart Bowman, Tygh Runyan, Dominique Blanc, and many other wonderful actors inhabit the world of Versailles.
