Series` info and format

Horrible Histories is a CBBC comedy sketch series that`s been on the air since 2009. Created by Terry Deary (the show`s based on his best-sellers) and executive produced by Melissa Hardinge, Bill Hobbins, Richard Bradley, Alison Gregory and Kim Shillinglaw, the show hails from Lion TV and Citrus Television. Rattus Rattus the talking rat is the host of the show. The sixth series of the show ran between February 7, 2015 and August 24, 2015.

Starting with the Stone Age, the show thoroughly deals with gruesome events in all historical periods from Awful Egyptians through the Measly Middle Ages and Vile Victorian Age to Woeful World War II. Each of the episodes offers the audience a mix of sketches related to world history, as well as cartoons and quizzes. The ensemble cast includes Jim Howick, Simon Farnaby, Ben Willbond, Matthew Baynton, Martha Howe-Douglas, Laurence Rockard and John Eccleston as the voice behind Rattus Rattus.

The sixth series of Horrible Histories has been launched with a new cast and a new producers` team, with the format changed around to be centered around one certain historical persona per episode. The current seventh series consists of three specials, with the first one, titled “Sensational Shakespeare” that has aired on April 19, 2016, and the second one, “Staggering Storytellers” set to be broadcast on July 11, 2016.
