About the show

Surveillance Oz is an Australian docu-series broadcast on Seven Network. It has been on the air since 2012, while the most recent six-episode fourth series debuted on July 21, 2016. The program is narrated by Eden Falk.

The series is based on surveillance camera footage in Victoria, Australia. The unique access to the CCTV cameras allows the production team to portray a range of risky behaviors that people engage in on the roads, on the public transportation system, parking lots and other public spaces. Road rage, domestic disputes in the middle of a tunnel, serious accidents, drunk driving, vandalism – this gripping series has the audience glued to their screens.

Viewership and renewal potential

The first series delivered excellent viewership ratings, averaging over a million viewers per episode over the six episodes. Series three attracted close to 0.9 million viewers per episode during its broadcast, and the current fourth series premiered to an audience of 0.52 million viewers. Surveillance Oz has spawned a spinoff, Surveillance Oz Dash Cam, which is also narrated by Falk. No announcements have been made regarding a fifth series of Surveillance Oz, but considering the viewer interest, it would be safe to assume that there is a renewal in place for the program.
