About the show
MTV`s Joking Off is a comedy competition series airing since 2015. It is executive produced by Darin Byrne, Candida Boyette, Chris McCarthy and Paul Ricci and hails from Back Roads Entertainment. The third season is hosted by comedian and actor DeRay Davis and debuted on August 4, 2016.
Teams of comedians have fun ripping apart the most ridiculous and absurd social media posts, Instagram pics and videos that went viral. Only one jokester is crowned champion at the end of each episode. New faces this season include Vinny Guadagnino, Derek Gaines, Anna Lore, Casey Jost, David Magidoff, Leonard Ouzts and J. Snow. Many of the cast members from previous chapters are also returning, including Matt Richards, Kerry Coddett, Desus, Matteo Lane, Kristen Acimovic, and others.
Popularity and possibilities of renewal
Joking Off has a 5.8/10 score on IMDb, indicating mostly positive reviews, but lacking enough support to call it universal acclaim. The second season premiered to just over 0.5 million viewers and a decent 0.22 demo rating. A month later, an early September episode drew an audience of 0.36 million and a rating of 0.14. The current season is unlikely to be the last one, as the number of ridiculous social media posts in increasing exponentially by the hour, and someone has to dilute this avalanche with a bit of humor. Stay tuned and we`ll bring you the latest on the future of MTV`s Joking Off as soon as a renewal or a cancelation announcement is made by the network.
