Series info and storyline

Cinemax is well-known for its late-night programming with a slant towards sensuality. Motel, its first-ever Latino original series acquired from HBO Latin America was launched by the network on August 18, 2016, is following the trend. The series is produced by Brazilian Bossa Nova Films, and contains six half-hour episodes. Fabrizia Pinto is the director and Margarida Ribeiro is the executive producer on the series.

The six episodes of Motel explore a variety of cinematic styles, with each episode filmed in a different genre – suspense, horror, romance, drama, comedy and police procedural. However, all of the episodes are joined by the common context of eroticism, mystery and sometimes perversion. Each of the episodes is a stand-alone short with a new cast of characters, a new angle, and a new room setting.

Current season and renewal potential

The Divine Sin motel becomes a setting for a number of very different events: a ghost of Zoraide, who has not been able to leave one of the motel rooms becomes the subject of a man’s adoration, an arranged threesome does not go as planned, a virgin newlywed discovers that his new wife is inappropriately experienced in bed, a spirit possesses a woman, and a planned suicide does not quite work out the way it was supposed to. Will this sensual story be continued into a second season? That remains to be seen, and will depend on how well the current installment fares with the audience. Stay tuned, and we’ll bring you the latest info on the future of Motel.
