New animated series – storyline and production info

A new Canadian adventure and comedy children’s animated series, Rusty Rivets was presented on Nickelodeon on August 22, 2016. It is written by Ravi Steve and Sindy Spackman, executive produced by Ronnen Harary and Laura Clunie and hails from Spin Master Arc Productions. The freshman installment contains 26 thirty-minute episodes.

The show portrays Rusty, a 10-year-old inventor living in the city of Sparkton Hills. His best buddy Ruby and a group of rescue robots led by the robotic tyrannosaurus Botasaur are his companions in engineering exploits. Together they immerse themselves in a variety of creative scientific activities, such as repurposing machines, creating gadgets and exploring scientific concepts. Besides the obvious entertainment value, Rusty Rivets is an educational show.

Reception and chances of renewal

The series has a 6.9/10 IMDb score and is a perfectly rounded animation series for a curious preschooler. In fact, it it part of Nickelodeon’s expansion into pre-school programming which has started this year with a slew of new series. Rusty always saves the day with his imagination and resourcefulness. The DIY culture is becoming more and more popular in the adult world as well, and Rusty Rivets sets a good example as a smart, self-reliant problem solver.
