Veteran series – info, storyline and cast
The longest-running medical drama series in the world, Casualty has originally premiered on BBC One in 1986. The show was created by Jeremy Brook and Paul Unwin, executive produced by Oliver Kent and is currently produced by BBC Cymru Wales. The veteran series has aired over one thousand episodes, with its most recent 31st series premiering on August 27, 2016 with 43 episodes.
The storyline follows the accidents and emergency department at the fictional Holby City Hospital. Both medical cases and the patients involved, as well as the staff and their professional and personal lives intertwine in the plot. The current series premiere created further connections between Casualty and its spinoff/sister show Holby City, although originally they did not share much in common in terms of storyline or characters.
