Show information and plot
Loosely Exactly Nicole is a new MTV comedy show that premiered concurrently with another female-fronted comedy Mary + Jane on September 5, 2016. It is created by Christian Lander and Christine Zander, and written by Lander, Zander, Grace Edwards and Jackie Clarke. Comedian Nicole Byer, best known for her work on another MTV show, Girl Code, is the central figure of the series, which tells her semi-autobiographical tale.
Confident and irreverent, she is an aspiring actress in Hollywood, with a limited range of opportunities coming her way. For example, one of the characters she’s about to try out for is Big Butt Bertha, and Nicole gets the boy she’s babysitting to read her the lines. The self-proclaimed “outrageous” antics are mostly just as “outrageous” as this one, and the series does not manage to effectively satirize the very things it is created to parody.
Current season and chances of renewal
TV series that portray fictional versions of comedians’ lives have been wildly successful in some cases, like Seinfeld, and in other instances have not impressed the audience very much. Will Loosely Exactly Nicole be able to find its audience? At this point the show has an average 5.5/10 IMDb score, having debuted to 0.336 million viewers and slipped to 0.229 million for the second episode. The demo rating dropped from an already measly 0.16 to 0.12 over the first week. Byer does seem to have a lot of potential, so we hope that the series manages to bring it out and becomes a success.
