CBS officially canceled Mike and Molly season 7

This article has the most up-to-date info on the status of Mike and Molly season 7 as we continuously monitor the news to keep you in the know. Unfortunately, CBS has officially canceled the series. There will be no season 7.

Production info and plot

Mike and Molly is an American multi-camera sitcom television series airing on CBS since September 20, 2012. The series is created by Mark Roberts, and produced by Warner Bros. Television and Chuck Lorre Productions. The current sixth season was released on January 6, 2016, and on January 12, 2016 CBS officially announced that the series will not be renewed for another run.

The series portrays the life of a couple who has met at an Overeaters Anonymous meeting, and their friends, co-workers and relatives. The good-hearted Mike (Billy Gardell) and quick-tempered Molly`s (Melissa McCarthy) relationship is at the center of the storyline.

Ratings and reasons for cancelation

Mike and Molly`s ratings have been excellent, with an over 11 million viewers average for the freshman season, and almost 10 million for the last completed fifth season. The reason behind the cancelation of the series is obviously not low viewership, but, rather, the typical six-year contract running out between the network and the production company, and the lack of time slots to fill, as there are more and more series being produced every year. The original 22-episode order for the sixth season was probably also cut for the same reason. Melissa McCarthy has won an Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series Primetime Emmy Award in 2011, and the series as a whole has received other awards and nominations over the course of its existence. The reviews from the critics have been moderately positive, siting the likable cast and conventional jokes that sometimes border on bland.
