Production info and concept
HGTV has added two new exciting series to its extensive building and renovation program slate this fall. Both feature returning presenters who already have a devoted following in Canada. One of these shows is Moving the McGilllivrays. It is executive produced by Andrew and Scott McGillivray, hails from McGillivray Entertainment, with the freshman season containing ten one-hour episodes. The first installment of the reality series debuted on September 25, 2016.
Scott McGillivray is one of HGTV’s Canada’s most celebrated hosts, already renowned for his popular series Income Property. In his new show he and his wife Sabrina are featured as they build a dream home for their family. The couple’s busy life on both personal and professional fronts, their two daughters, full-time jobs, and a parallel project – building a home for another family that requires their help – all of this and more are a part of the show. Not one, but two families’ dreams coming true – that’s twice as much satisfaction for the audience.
Strong current ratings and chances of renewal
The premiere episode of Moving the McGillivrays became the #2 program on the night of its broadcast (except sports programs) with 418,000 (2+) viewers. In fact, it has become the top-rated premiere among all of McGillivray’s slate of programs, and there are such hits as Income Property on the roster. With numbers like these, there are barely any doubts about the future of the reality show.
