Production info and program concept
On September 26, 2016 Investigation Discovery has launched the second season of its criminal docuseries The Mind of a Murderer. Having originally premiered in 2015, the show is hosted by Dr. Michelle Ward and written by Jacqueline Brewster-Farquhar, Fae Moore and Charlotte Stobbs. The program hails from Atlas Media Corporation and executive produced by Bruce David Klein and Lorri Leighton, with Michelle Ward co-executive producing.
Dr. Ward is an expert in psychopathic behavior and has a unique presence on screen. In each episode of the series she meets face to face with a convicted murderer, alone, in her own version of Clarice vs. Hannibal exploration. She seeks to formulate the motivation behind the crimes committed by these individuals, and is a very strong interviewer, pushing the person on the other end to open up to her beyond the limits of the expected.
Ratings and renewal prospects
The program has a strong 6.8/10 IMDb score, and its second season premiered with a reasonably large audience of 876,000 viewers and a 0.26 demo rating. The viewership did go down to 693,000 for the subsequent episode, but is still reasonably strong. The host’s personality has the viewers split, with many deeply annoyed and doubting her professional abilities. There are relatively decent chances of a third season of Mind of a Murderer being commissioned, yet the network has not made any relevant announcements. Please stay tuned and we will bring you the latest information.
