About the series
Deadbeat is a supernatural comedy series about a stoner medium-for-hire who works together with his dealer friend to try to solve various unresolved issues of ghosts. Created by Cody Heller and Brett Konner, the masterminds behind Wilfred, the series first premiered on Hulu in April 2014. Season 2 returned to the online streaming site in April 2015, and season 3 followed on April 20, 2016.
Starring Tyler Labine as a pot-smoking lazy bum Kevin Pacalioglu, who is, coincidentally, a part-time paranormal consultant who makes a living communicating with the dead. Deadbeat is a hilarious portrayal of two ordinary guys helping ghosts settle their unfinished business on earth. The series is studded with guest star appearances, including Danny DeVito, James Franco, Gilbert Gottfired, Zach Levi, and many others, who have helped propel the show to success.
Ratings, reviews and renewal information
Scoring a whopping 92% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes in season 1, and 75% fresh in season 2, the series has been extremely popular with Hulu’s target demographic. The third season introduces Kal Penn as stoner and Kevin`s new business partner Clyde Shapiro. The two meet in jail and Clyde is extremely excited to learn of Pac`s supernatural abilities. The duet is shaking things up and might make the third season of Deadbeat the best one yet. While the online streaming service has not made an announcement on the future of the series and a possible renewal of Deadbeat for season 4, we do expect the series to be picked up.

UPDATED June 6, 2016: Hulu has decided to cancel its original goofy supernatural comedy series Deadbeat. The news were revealed by Tyler Labine, who starred in the three completed seasons of the show as a NYC stoner/medium Kevin Pacalioglu in his Twitter account. The good news about canceled Hulu series is that the show remains available to the fans in its entirety through the streaming service. The reasons for the network`s decision not to go further with Deadbeat were not announced, but it most likely stems from Hulu`s desire to concentrate on higher-budget productions.
