Series background and storyline
A Flash-animated web and television show, Mighty Magiswords is the Cartoon Network’s first original online series. The Cartoon Network Studios-produced web shorts debuted in May 2015, and the series premiered on September 29, 2016. Kyle A. Carrozza (MooBeard: The Cow Pirate) created and executive produced the program, composed parts of the soundtrack and even voiced several characters. The first season is comprised of 24 eleven-minute episodes.
Vambre and Prohyas are not just siblings, they are a “Warriors for Hire” team. The duo goes on crazy adventures all around the world and adds to their collection of magical swords along the way. The two characters were created by Carrozza back in 1996 when he was a high school student, and have finally made it to a network series. Other characters include Grup the Dragon, a small creature who lives with them, Princess Zange, who frequently hires the team, The Mysterious Hooded Woman who loves raves and is the one to send Vambre and Prohyas on their missions, and many other unusual and mysterious creatures.
Reception and chances of renewal
The action-adventure and fantasy show has a 5.1/10 IMDb rating, but the viewership is far better than this average score might suggest. Mighty Magiswords is averaging over one million viewers per episode, which definitely makes it a successful launch. There seems to be no reason to cancel the animated show, so we are expecting a likely renewal announcement. Please stay tuned, and we will inform you when any relevant news are revealed.
