About the show

On October 3, 2016 Australian Network Nine has launched a new drama thriller television series Hyde & Seek. It is created by New Zealand writers Rachel Lang and Gavin Strawhan, executive produced by Andy Ryan, Jo Rooney and Debbie Lee and hails from Matchbox Pictures. The freshman series contains eight sixty-minute episodes.

The chain of events that unfolds in this police procedural with elements of soapy drama is set off by a car bomb that explodes, killing a police officer who happens to be the protagonist`s best mate. Detective Sergeant Gary Hyde (Matt Nable) vows to bring the perpetrators to justice and proceeds to investigate the murder case with his new partner Claire McKenzie (Emma Hamilton). They reveal an underbelly of crimes, intrigue and chaos, a whole world where everyone has their secrets. Now Gary and Claire have to face risks and put their loved one at risk as well.

Current ratings and chances of renewal

The series premiered with an audience of 878,000 viewers and slipped to 656,000 viewers for the recent mid-October episodes. The locally produced drama is pitted against another Australian series, The Secret Daughter, and as of now, Hyde & Seek does not seem to be a front-runner, at least not in the ratings department. The reviews, however, are mostly positive, and the show earned an IMDb score of 7.3/10. Whether or not Hyde & Seek will make it to the second installment remains to be seen, and we`ll inform you as soon as Ten makes a decision to that regard.
