About the series
Arranged is an original docu-series and reality show that follows three modern-day couples whose families helped to arrange their marriages. Initially released on FYI channel on April 14, 2015, the show garnered a lot of attention due to its controversial subject matter. The second season of the show premiered on May 10, 2016.
The series follows three engaged couples whose parents were heavily involved in setting them up and ensuring their relationship leads to marriage. The current second season of the series features three new couples and their extended family members who have participated in arranging their personal relationships. All three couples hail from different cultural and religious backgrounds – a Jewish modern Orthodox couple from NYC, a couple from Texas and a California couple with East Indian heritage. Arranged follows the couples through all stages of their relationships and reflect on the subject of arranged marriage in the modern world.
Current season, reviews and possible renewal
Since its premiere, Arranged has received mixed reviews from the audience. Viewers tuned in to see what a modern-day arranged couple looks like, and whether their arranged marriage can really work. While sticking to some cultural conventions, the couples are notoriously unconventional in living together during the engagement — albeit allegedly staying in separate rooms. This ultimately adds to the drama, leaving fans rooting for the couples, even if it sometimes means hoping they’ll break off the engagement. FYI has kept quiet regarding the fate of a possible Arranged season 3. Viewers have rated the show a 7.9 out of 10 on IMBD, so there is clearly enough interest for a possible third season.
