Series` concept and production info

A new Australian horror and psychological thriller series was launched by the Pop network in the United States on October 14, 2016, after its Australian premiere on Stan in May 2016. The first six-episode season of Wolf Creek is directed by series` creator Greg McLean and Tony Tilse, written by Peter Gawer and Felicity Packard. The series hails from Screentime and Emu Creek Pictures, and is executive produced by McLean, Greg Haddrick, Jo Rooney, Andy Ryan, Nick Forward and Rob Gibson. The show is a spinoff of the eponymous movies.

Eve Thorogood (Lucy Fry) is a 19-year-old tourist from the United States, whose family is attacked by serial killer Mick Taylor (John Jarratt) at an Australian campsite. She is the only one to survive the attack, and after recovering from the injury that the gunshot incurred during the slaughter, she buys a van, steals the case file from the detective who questions her, and sets out to take her revenge on the person responsible for the horror that took the lives of her loved ones.

Reviews and future prospects

Wolf Creek premiered with generally positive reviews in Australia and reasonably solid viewership ratings. It has a 7.1/10 IMDb rating, but the US premiere was not as successful, with more people disappointed in the mini-series, even, and perhaps especially more so, the Wolf Creek franchise fans, who had high expectations of their favorite films` continuation. Whether or not a second installment is in order remains to be seen, and if the series is renewed, hopefully the creators will take some of the constructive criticism into account. Series 1 recap

The first six-episode installment of Australian horror web series Wolf Creek has wrapped up on Pop in the United States on November 18, 2016. It was initially released in its entirety on Stan in Australia in May 2016 and was mostly well received down under, and the US broadcast received positive reviews as well. The final episode leaves open many possibilities for Eve, who burns her bridges by confronting and presumably killing Taylor (whose body she fails to find later on) and burning down the house, as Hill kills himself in the process of warding off Taylor`s attack. At the very end Eve is picked up by Ruth and her dog in a truck, and they speed down the road as the credits roll. The show has a 7.1/10 IMDb score, and while is has not been renewed for another chapter, Wolf Creek`s EP Greg McLean has mentioned in an interview that he has a number of ides on how to continue with another series. The franchise now consists of two films and the TV series, and has a decent chance of continuing further. Stay tuned!
