Series` plot and info
On October 16, 2016 the EPIX network has launched Graves, a new comedy television series created, written and executive produced by Joshua Michael Stern. Greg Shapiro, Keith Eisner and Eric Weinberg also executive produce, and Lionsgate Television is behind the production. Graves received a straight-to-series order for ten episodes.
The show centers on the ex-President of the United States Richard Graves (Nick Nolte), who, twenty years after leaving the office, realizes that his decisions during his time in the White House have incurred extensive damage on the country. As his wife Margaret (Sela Ward) gets ready to run for the highest office, will he be able to overturn his damaging policies?
Ratings and chances of renewal
Graves was met with controversial reviews immediately prior to the United States presidential elections. The satirical series earned a 6.1/10 IMDb score, 61% on Metacritic and 56% on Rotten Tomatoes, and is praised for its currently relevant and clever concept. The execution, however, is not as brilliant as it could have potentially been with such ripe material, with Nolte`s performance criticized by many. However, reviews are leaning strongly towards positive, and, if the series is picked up for a second season, we hope that the potential that it apparently has according to many critics and viewers will be fully realized. Stay tuned, and we will inform you when EPIX makes a decision on the fate of Graves.
UPDATED November 18, 2016: While Epix` viewership ratings are not made public, we can assume that they were solid enough for its first two attempts at scripted series, Graves and Berlin Station, to be renewed for second seasons just a month since their fall premieres. The half-hour dramedy follows the exploits of the ex-President of the US trying to put things right after enlightening realizations come to him two decades after he has completed his term. The second ten-episode chapter will go into production in early 2017, and we will be sure to bring you the release date information as soon as it is revealed.
