Series` concept and info

An Australian factual television series, Beach Cops has originally premiered on October 11, 2015 on Seven Network, while the second series was launched on October 19, 2016. The program is narrated by Layne Beachley, executive produced by Lyndal Marks and hails from Seven Productions, following Seven`s tradition of observational docuseries that follow members of the police force. Both installments contain six episodes each.

Beach Cops features police officers of the New South Wales Police Force patrolling the Northern Beaches of Sydney. The men and women perform their everyday duties, facing the typical dangerous, and sometimes funny incidents that require police attention. From the threatening behavior of drug addicts roaming on the street and a teenager stuck in a blowhole to cases of animal cruelty, public urination and homemade bombs, there are many different troubles and the officers have to be creative in their approach.

Solid viewership and future prospects

The show is very popular, as there is traditionally a niche for documentary series that detail the work of police officers. It has originally premiered with impressive viewership of just over one million viewers. The second series aired with lower numbers that are still very solid, garnering 684,000 viewers for the series 2 premiere, and peaking at 731,000 for episode four. There have been no announcements made by Seven in regard to the future of Beach Cops, but it seems that there is enough viewer interest to keep it going
